New photos

We have gotten up photos for Evan's first month (go to the photos and click the first month link). We're being a little slow with the rest. I say blame Kim. Kim says blame me. We'll eventually catch up, especially when summer gets here.

Evan's New Games

Evan has found his hands. Not in the same way that he did before...I mean he realized that they were there and was constantly eating them but now he has discovered that they have a purpose and they can grab things. He will grab for things that are on his belly or in the air right in his line of sight as long as it is close enough for him to reach. He will grab onto my hair in the morning when I pick him up from his big boy crib or when we're walking around. He hasn't discovered that he can grab Jacob's glasses though.

He is becoming more and more expressive every day. He smiles and makes all sorts of noises and even occasionally will giggle. One of his favorite games is when you hold him up and lean him towards you while you open your mouth wide. He will do the same and then flash you a big smile. We have posted the picture of this.

His other game that he likes is when you lay him on his back, allow him to help push up and then kind of fly him up in the air and back down onto your legs. He will get all excited about it.

He loves trying the make raspberries and copy what you are doing. It is amazing how much he has changed in four months.

The magic growing machine

Yes- Evan is a growing machine. Time has gone by so fast and Evan has gotten so big. He already is unable to fit into his first stage of clothes and is in the second set. I know he will be too big for those clothes around Christmas. We went to the doctor last week and got our second set of shots. Of course Evan was fine right before the shots and then as soon as he got stuck he screamed! I don't really blame him. He did have to get three shots on his legs. I probably would too if I didn't feel like I needed to be a grown up. He's now 14.8 pounds, 24 inches long and his head is 43 cm around. He has grown to twice the size as he was born. His pants still fall off him but they are getting better since Evan is getting a little buddha belly from eating cereal, peas, and green beans. We tried sweet potatoes and LOVED them but the next day he wasn't keen on eating green beans since they are much more bland. We've gone back to the green stuff for now to keep it bland for a little longer. Hopefully by Thanksgiving he will be eating all the vegetables and be able to have his own little feast.

Evan's New Tricks

Hopefully I'll have some more pictures up tomorrow, either here on the blog or on the picture pages. Evan's really been changing at a faster pace the past couple of weeks. He's started scooting when he's on his stomach. He'll often push himself up into the corner of his crib at night and he'll nearly push himself off of his play mat.

The real big news is that Evan graduated to sleeping in his own crib in his own room at nights last week. He's not having much trouble with the change, but Kim wasn't exactly happy about it. He's even gone from about 9 p.m. until 4 or 5 a.m. once or twice in his own room, but part of that is because he's eating real food now. In addition to the peas you can see below, he's eaten green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash.

Evan Likes Peas

Evan started eating vegetables this week. Yesterday Evan had his first taste of peas. He wasn't too sure what to think to start with, but already today he's acting like he's enjoying them (as the picture shows). Actually, he's not quite gotten the hang of eating food from a spoon, he still tries the sucking motion used for bottles and Mama, which gets as much out as in.

He's up to around 15 lbs. now and actually looks like a chubby baby instead of a skinny alien thing with baggy skin. He's also starting watching things more closely and he just started being able to reach out and grab for things consistently late last week. He's a lot more responsive overall. The lady who keeps him during the day said she's surprised how he's already trying to scoot when he's laid on his stomach and how much he likes to stand (you've got to keep him balanced, but he's been able to hold his own weight for over a month now.)
