Midnight MusingsSunday, January 20, 2008Evan Goes to a Birthday Party
Before we get to the birthday party stuff, here's a freebie. It's just a photo from a good mood session on Jan. 17.
![]() Evan went to his first birthday party today. Addi Davis, one of the girls he goes to day care with, turned one earlier this week, and her parents threw her birthday party today. Evan got to play in the inflatable bounce castle in the back yard, ate cake and ice cream (with his hands), played with some of Addi's toys and was a very good boy overall. He had a great time. Of course, he'll be having his own first birthday party in less than four months. It seems weird that it's been that long since he was born already. Here are a few photos from today's party. ![]() ![]() Evan Eats
Evan has started to mess around with finger foods. He'll gum saltine crackers until they're soft enough to swallow (it's actually a fairly disgusting process), and he will eat some table foods (although we're not really giving him much of those.) Here's a short video of him eating one of his Gerber puffs. He loves these things.
On a sadder note, he's no longer sleeping the night. He went probably two weeks where he'd sleep the entire night except for on weekends for some reason, probably because he's less distracted and takes more and longer naps during the weekend. Unfortunately, he's been getting up once a night during the week and the past two night he's actually gotten up twice during the night. I didn't realize how much of a pain this was until he got us used to sleeping straight through the night for a couple of weeks before reverting. Boo. Sunday, January 6, 2008Sleepy Time Food
Hopefully Kim has discovered the secret to a full night's sleep for Evan: Beech Nut's Good Evening line of baby food. Last week Evan slept through the entire night for three nights in a row. Each night Kim would feed him a jar of one of those (usually Hearty Vegetable Stew or the Turkey Tetrazzini) and follow it up with a small jar of fruit around 6:30 p.m. Then, just before he went off for bed he'd suck down a bottle of formula. All three of those nights we were able to sleep all the way through the night. It was just too darn cool. We got off schedule during the weekend and he didn't get his Good Evening baby food supper and he went back to his 1 a.m. feeding break each night. Little Man got his stew tonight and his bottle so we're hoping that we won't wake up until the alarm goes off just before 6 a.m. tomorrow.
He's also starting to scoot around on the floor now, so he may crawl before walking after all. But yeah, I know you only come here for the photos. I don't have anything from the past few days, but here's a shot of Evan at his first hockey game. We went to an Augusta Lynx game during the weekend between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Evan was into it for most of the first period, but conked out for the rest of the game.
