A Little Housekeeping

Yes, I do realize that the links to most of the photo pages are broken. I haven't built those pages yet. Kim and I haven't been posting regularly lately, but Evan's still here. We've just been busy considering that work started back this week.

Evan's up to more than 10.5 lbs. His last checkup over a week ago had him at 10 lbs. 8 oz. He's finally starting to leave the size range for normal newborns. He's also holding his head up on his on and focusing really well. He'll turn his head to look at different things that catch his attention. If you take him out in his stroller for a walk outside, his head is turning back and forth like he was at a tennis match. He's a strong little bugger too. As long as you provide balance for him, he can support his own weight while standing. That massive head's just a little too heavy for balance. I think he'll start walking early.

Below the neck, coordination hasn't set in. While he can control his head and eyes exactly as he wants, the hands and feet still kind of go wherever they feel like. He's making attempts to push his on pacifier back in when it falls out, but he's got a tendency to pull it out again after he pushes it in. He seems to be on track though.

The annoying thing is that his brain development has gotten far enough that he can get bored now, but he doesn't have the coordination yet to entertain himself. He can't grab or shake a rattle, so it's up to us to entertain him when he starts getting bored. The best solution is to take him outside. He'll watch the wind blowing trees or the roosters I let roam outside for hours. I've got a feeling that he's going to spend as much time wandering the woods as a kid as I did.
